LET'S START THIS TOPIC. WE ARE OWNING MAHINDRA XUV 500 WHICH IS BOUGHT FROM RANCHI IN 2017. I WILL BE TELLING YOU ABOUT ITS FEATURES, SPECS AND MANY MORE.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS MODELS. THERE WERE 5 VARIANTS IN THE OLDER VERSION WHICH WERE W4, W6, W8, W10, W10 AWD. AWD MEANS ALL WHEEL DRIVE. WE ARE OWNING W6 MODEL. THE NEW MODELS HAVE 7 VARIANTS WHICH ARE W5, W7, W9, W11, W11 OPT, W11 OPT AWD.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS ENGINE. IT HAS A 2.2 LITRE DIESEL ENGINE WHICH PRODUCES 140 BHP OF POWER AND 320 NM OF TORQUE. THIS ENGINE IS POWERFUL. IT USED TO HAVE A 2.2 LITRE PETROL ENGINE WHICH GOT DISCONTINUED BECAUSE OF THE BS6 NORMS.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS WHEELS. THESE ARE 18 INCHES IN THE TOP VARIANT WITH ALLOY WHEELS AND IN THE LOWER VARIANTS, THEY HAVE 17 INCHES WHEELS WITH ALLOY WHEELS IN W8 OR W9 AND STEEL CAPS IN W4 OR W5 OR W6 OR W7.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS EXTERIOR DESIGN AND FEATURES. THE FRONT GRILLE IS INSPIRED FROM THE CHEETAH WHICH LOOKS STUNNING. THE CAR HAS HALOGEN PROJECTOR HEADLAMPS WHICH HAVE A GOOD THROW IN THE NIGHT. IT HAS DAY-TIME RUNNING LEDS OR DRLS. THEY TOO HAVE HALOGEN FOG LAMPS. THE SIDE PROFILE IS LONG AND BOXY. IT HAS HAUNCHES IN THE END WHICH MAKES IT LOOKS EVEN BETTER. IT HAS A FLOATING GLASS DESIGN. THE WINDOWS ARE VERY BIG IN THIS CAR. IT HAS A SIDE STEP WHICH WILL HELP THE SHORT IN HEIGHT OR OLDER PEOPLE TO GET INSIDE THE CAR. THE BACK DESIGN OF THE OLD MODEL LOOKS NICE. IN OUR W6 MODEL, WE BOUGHT A REVERSE PARKING CAMERA AS AN ACCESSORY. IT HAS A BACK WIPER WHICH CLEANS WELL. IT HAS AERO TWIN WIPERS WHICH ARE VERY STURDY. IT HAS A FRONT AS WELL AS REAR DEFOGGER AND A GLASS ANTENNA.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS BOOT. THE BOOT SPACE [WHEN ALL THE 3 ROWS ARE UP] IS JUST 90 LITRES WHICH IS NOT GOOD WHEN YOU'RE TRAVELLING WITH 7 PEOPLE. WHEN THE 2 ROWS ARE UP, THEN IT HAS 702 LITRES OF BOOTSPACE AND WHEN THE 2nd ROW IS DOWN, THEN THE BOOTSPACE WILL BE 1000 LITRES. IT WILL BECOME HUGE BOOTSPACE.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS INTERIOR DESIGN AND FEATURES. IN THE W6 MODEL, IT HAD FABRIC SEATS. WE BOUGHT LEATHERETTE UPHOLSTERY FROM THE ACCESSORY STORE. IN THE TOP VARIANT, IT COMES WITH LEATHERETTE UPHOLSTERY AND A SUNROOF WHICH IS A NICE TOUCH. THE INTERIOR QUALITY COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. IT HAS BLACK AND BEIGE INTERIORS. IT IS DECENT. IT HAS A 7 INCH TOUCHSCREEN WHICH IS GOOD IN RESPONSE. THE TOUCHSCREEN HAS ANDROID AUTO AND APPLE CARPLAY. THE TOUCHSCREEN HAS IN-BUILT NAVIGATION. IT HAS A 8 GB STORAGE IN THE TOUCHSCREEN. THE STORAGE IS THERE BECAUSE OF THE WALLPAPERS. THE SPEAKER QUALITY COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. IT HAS 4 SPEAKERS AND 2 TWEETERS. THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY BIG IN SIZE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS A HYDRAULIC STEERING WHEEL. THIS MAKES IT EVEN MORE HEAVIER. THE STEERING HAS AUDIO CONTROLS ON THE LEFT SIDE AND CRUISE CONTROL ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE STEERING HAS TILT ADJUSTMENT. THE HORN SOUND IS DECENT. THE AC COOLING IS VERY GOOD. IT HAS REAR AC VENTS FOR ALL THE ROWS. IT HAS AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL. IT HAS CHILLED ARMREST WHICH IS A NICE TOUCH. IT HAS AN AMBIENT LIGHT WHICH IS BLUE IN COLOUR WHICH LOOKS COOL IN THE NIGHT. THE CAR HAS PUSH START-STOP, KEYLESS ENTRY, HILL DECENT CONTROL AND ESP IN THE TOP END VARIANT ONLY.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SAFETY FEATURES. IT HAS 2 AIRBAGS, ABS+EBD IN EVERY VARIANT. IT HAS 6 AIRBAGS, ESP, HILL DECENT CONTROL AND ESP IN THE TOP MODEL.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BULID QUALITY. THE CAR IS VERY STURDY AND FEELS GOOD TO DRIVE. IT HAS GOT 5 STAR RATING IN GLOBAL NCAP CRASH TEST.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS COMFORT AND SPACE. THE SPACE IS VERY GOOD. THE FRONT SEATS ARE COMFORTABLE. THE DRIVER SEAT HAS A HEIGHT ADJUSTER. THE SECOND ROWS ARE NOT HAT GREAT IN COMFORT BECAUSE THE SEATS ARE FLAT WHICH MEANS YOU DON'T HAVE THIGH SUPPORT. THE LEGROOM AND KNEEROOM OF THE SECOND ROW IS VERY GOOD. THE HEADRESTS ARE SMALL. BY THE WAY, ALL THE ROWS HAVE ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS. THE SECOND ROW HAS RECLINE. THREE PEOPLE CAN COMFORTABLY SIT IN THE SECOND ROW. THERE IS A THIRD ROW, WHICH IS DECENT IN COMFORT. I DON'T HAVE ANY HEADROOM WHILE SITTING IN THE LAST ROW. THE LEGROOM AND THE KNEEROOM IS JUST ENOUGH. THE ARMREST OF THE FRONT ROW IS BIG AND ADJUSTABLE. THE SECOND ROW'S ARMREST IS SMALL.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS SUSPENSION. THE SUSPENSION IS VERY HARD AND GIVES BUMPY RIDE IN ANY ROW IF YOU'RE SITTING AND YOU'RE PASSING THROUGH FULL OF POTHOLES ROAD. IT IS HAVING VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SUSPENSION ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEED.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE STORAGE SPACES. ALL THE 4 DOOR POCKETS CAN STORE 1 LITRE OF BOTTLE. IT HAS AN UMBRELLA STORAGE IN THE FRONT SEATS. IT HAS SOME MORE STORAGE SPACE TO KEEP YOUR NIG NACKS AND STUFF. IT HAS TWO CUPHOLDERS IN THE FRONT ROW. IT HAS TWO LAYERS OF STORAGE IN THE ARMREST. FIRST WHERE YOU CAN KEEP YOUR WALLET AND SECOND IS YOUR COOLED ARMREST. IT HAS A SUNGLASS HOLDER. IT HAS A TWO GLOVE BOXES WHICH ARE BIG IN SIZE. IT HAS A NEWSPAPER POCKET ON THE SIDE OF YOUR FRONT SEATS. IT HAS 2 STORAGE HOOKS WHICH CAN HOLD UPTO 5 KILOGRAMS. IT HAS 2 SEAT POCKETS BEHIND THE FRONT SEATS. THERE IS ONE MORE SPACE BELOW THE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL WHICH HAS SOME SPACE AND A 12 V POWER SOCKET. BY THE WAY, ALL THE ROWS HAVE 12 V POWER SOCKETS. IN THE SECOND ROW, THERE ARE TWO CUPHOLDERS IN THE ARMREST. IN THE THIRD ROW, THERE ARE TWO CUPHOLDERS AND TWO NET STORAGE WHERE YOU CAN KEEP SOME SMALL THINGS. THE PRACTICALITY OF THIS CAR IS EXCELLENT.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. IT HAS NO DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM WHICH IS DISAPPOINTING. ALL THE DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM IS IN THE TOUCHSCREEN. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER LOKKS COOL IN NIGHT BECAUSE OF THAT BLUE AMBIENT LIGHTING.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS TRANSMISSIONS. IT HAS A 6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX AND A 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS GOOD BUT A LITTLE SLUGGISH. THE MANUAL GEARBOX IS VERY HEAVY WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT WHILE YOU'RE SHIFTING THE GEARS.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS MILEAGE. THE DIESEL MANUAL GIVES 10-11 kmpl IN THE CITY AND 13-16 kmpl IN THE HIGHWAY. THE DIESEL AUTOMATIC GIVES 8-9 kmpl IN THE CITY AND 10-11 kmpl IN THE HIGHWAY. THE MILEAGE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS ENGINE.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS PRICE. THE PRICE IS RS. 15.25 LAKHS [ON-ROAD PRICE, RANCHI] FOR THE BASE VARIANT. THE CAR IS VERY AGRESSIVELY PRICED. I'M LEAVING THE PRICES BELOW OF ALL THE VARIANTS [ON-ROAD PRICE, RANCHI].

  1. THE SUSPENSION IS NOT AT ALL GREAT.
  2. THE INTERIOR QUALITY COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.
  3. THE DOORS HAVE TO BE SHUT FORCEFULLY.
  4. THE SECOND ROW COULD HAVE MORE THIGH SUPPORT.
  5. IT HAS SO MANY BUTTONS TO CONTROL THE AUDIO SYSTEM AND AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL.
  6. THE STEERING WHEEL, GEARBOX ESPECIALLY MANUAL AND THE CLUTCH, BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR VIBRATE SO MUCH.
  7. THE ENGINE IS NOISY.
  8. THE THIRD ROW COULD HAVE MORE SPACE.
  9. THE SEOND ROW ARMREST IS VERY SMALL.
  10. THE STEERING WHEEL IS A HYDRAULIC STEERING.
  11. THE SPEAKER QUALITY IS NOT THE BEST.
  12. THE VOLUME ROLLER AND THE AC ROLLERS ARE NOT OF GREAT QUALITY.
  13. IT HAS RATTLE NOISES.
